The recent Australian federal election has highlighted just how critical our industry is to the communities we serve. We have clearly seen, particularly among regional and rural areas, the recognition of our sector as an important driver of local and national prosperity.
In turn, this reinforces the crucial role AusIMM must play in being the Trusted Voice of our industry and professionals. AusIMM must be a balanced voice, and we have worked hard to maintain good relationships with both sides of Australian politics. We are fortunate that we have developed a strong relationship with the current resources minister, and have been providing valued input on initiatives such as the Resources 2030 Taskforce. Through this, we continue to build our organisation’s relevance and uphold ourselves as the Trusted Voice.
The importance of our position as the Trusted Voice stretches beyond Australian national politics and into our wider region. We know that New Zealand faces some significant headwinds to a growing and prosperous resources sector. It is our role to provide credible, consistent input to government and industry that continues to promote the work of our professionals and the vital work they do.
In an ever-changing and uncertain world, AusIMM must continue to re-establish itself as a more modern and adaptable organisation and play our essential role as the Trusted Voice for all resources professionals.
