CEO’s Editorial: Growing our influence

  • By Stephen Durkin FAusIMM, CEO, AusIMM

AusIMM is deeply committed to playing a stronger leadership role as the Trusted Voice of resources professionals.

We are working more closely than ever with companies, universities and governments to bring high quality, timely information and advice to the table.
Our July Thought Leadership Series is a prime example of our Trusted Voice in action. Delivered across five capital cities, these events featured Chief Scientists from around Australia to highlight their role as a key partner to AusIMM and a conduit connecting academic research, industry innovation and government policy. Their support builds our own credibility and demonstrates our commitment to lead fact-based discussions.
Our AusIMM conferences are another example of AusIMM being the Trusted Voice, as a platform to present leading technical content. Through our conferences, we deliver high-quality professional development to support our members to be the world’s best at what they do. Our recent Iron Ore conference in Perth, delivered in partnership with CSIRO, welcomed over 600 delegates and heard from leading industry experts and senior government officials.
We are also carefully building our Trusted Voice in key international markets, including our Australian Mining Leaders Forum in London in June to showcase the work of our members to the international finance community, and a recent JORC workshop in Beijing to promote our local standards to mining professionals in China.
Through our Trusted Voice commitment, we are able to better share the story of who we are and what we stand for, and reinforce the critical role of our members in shaping the future of the resources sector, both locally and abroad.
