CEO’S Editorial: Consolidating our strategy to be the Trusted Voice

  • By Stephen Durkin FAusIMM, CEO, AusIMM

AusIMM will this year continue building on the strong foundations put in place over the past 12 months.

There are a number of ways we are shaping our story to be more effective and influential.

To solidify our position as the peak body for resources professionals, we are strengthening our relationships with industry, governments and universities. Alongside our international leadership role at GMPA we are growing our local connections, including a new partnership with the Victorian Government. We have also created a new stakeholder engagement role in Perth. This is an exciting step forward for us, as WA is a powerhouse in the global resources sector and has more AusIMM members than anywhere else.

Our Council for Diversity and Inclusion is supporting AusIMM to be the home for all resources professionals.

We recently held a series of International Women’s Day events as part of our commitment to leading this critical conversation. As we become a more welcoming organisation it is pleasing to see our membership numbers grow, with more professionals from a range of backgrounds joining AusIMM.

To better serve our global membership base, we are investing further in our Digital Transformation to deliver a better member experience. And following last year’s successful JORC online pilot program, we are rolling out more courses this year. This world-leading course showcases AusIMM’s role in upholding the global standards that underpin our industry.

Through this work we are consolidating our strategy to be a more relevant and respected organisation that is the Trusted Voice for all our members, wherever in the world they are working.
