2018 Australia Day Honours

AusIMM is proud to honour the significant achievements and contributions that have led to four of our members receiving Australia Day Honours on 26 January.

We are privileged to have been involved in validation of the contributions of some of these outstanding Australians and are proud to see the work of our members and industry leaders acknowledged in this auspicious forum. Recipients include:

Officers (AO) in the General Division

Professor Hugh Lucius DAVIES FAusIMM
Deakin ACT 2600
For distinguished service to Australia-Papua New Guinea relations, particularly in the area of the geological sciences, and to education as an academic, author and researcher.

Balwyn North Vic 3104
For distinguished service to the information technology sector and the mining industry, particularly through the development of industry standard computer programs for strategic mine planning and optimisation.

Members (AM) in the General Division

Mr David Nathan FLANAGAN MAusIMM
For significant service to the mining sector through a range of roles, to higher education, to philanthropy, and to the community.

Mr John Load JONES AAusIMM
Dalkeith WA 6009
For significant service to the mining exploration sector through a range of roles, to the livestock transport industry, and to the community.

These members joined industry luminary Andrew Gordon Michelmore AO (former CEO of MMG Ltd) and former members Dr David Francis Branagan AM and The Right Worshipful Reverend Gordon Alfred Bradbery AM in receiving Australia Day Honours this year. Congratulations to all of these eminent professionals – your communities, industry and AusIMM thank you for your efforts and accomplishments.
